Fox Hill Road has been home to Laundreams since the business first opened in the 1960s. Back then, the laundrette was an essential community facility — many homes didn't have washing machines, and the laundrette was where the neighbourhood gathered, chatted, and got on with the practical business of life.

Times have changed. Most homes now have their own washing machines. But the professional laundrette still fills a vital role that home appliances can't match — for large items like duvets and curtains, for specialist cleaning like dry cleaning and wedding dress preservation, for the commercial needs of local businesses, and for the sheer convenience of dropping off a bag and picking it up clean.
